I am uncomfortable addressing someone by name or title. like " Hey, Joe." or " how is it going, Sarah?" or " I don't know where that llama came from, officer.". I don't even feel comfortable addressing my father as Dad or Father for some strange reason. It hasn't been as bad lately but it is still there.
I have been trying to incorporate peoples names into what little bits of conversation I have with them, because I thought it might help me remember their names. I am bad at remembering names.
Are you comfortable addressing people by name or title? I usually just go with "Hey."

I find it difficult to remember names.
Most of the time, I don't have to use people's names. I know that it is a good thing to do though if you can.

I'm the same way. I usually don't call people by thier names, I just say "Good Morning" instead of "Good Morning, Frank", for instance. It's mostly only with people in my office that are higher-up than me, I have little problem calling people I know or are around my age by their names. The executives, for some reason, give me trouble. I guess it's that referring to someone by their name makes it more personal and the person takes notice more so you feel more on the spot. Something like that.

I don't call people by their names unless I have to get their attention. I normally say hi, hello or alright.

I've heard that referring to people by their names is a good way to earn their respect. Like, instead of just saying "Hi" to people say "Hi (their name)" And I like it when people call me by my name; it makes me feel good.

I'm ok with using people's actual names if anything i find that people like the fact that you do.
I know i prefer it when someone uses my name instead of just saying "hey", but then again i;m good at remembering people's names..certainly real names of people on forums ect.

I dont think I use peoples names very often at all, I tend to say thing like "oi!" or "hey" or "you", which sounds quite rude come to think about it, haha. I do like it when people actually say my name though, I should start using peoples names more.

I usually just say 'Hi' or 'Hello there!' with a smile, and then walk away quickly. I, too, am uncomfortable addressing people in public, so i try to put on fake show of enthusiasm so that they won't think there's soemthing wrong with me.

I always address people by NAME...UNLESS I can't remember it . I love it when people address me by my first name, whether it be out there or in here (online). I think it is a nice thing to do - if you know a person, and don't have a bad memory for names like I usually have! I hate it when people don't address me by my first name, if they know it. Even if they would just say, sorry, I know you, but I can't remember names, then at least I wouldn't feel so bad about it!
