As a shy or introverted person what do you do with your emotions? Do you express them or do you stuff them or something else?
How do you handle different things that happen in your life? Good things? Bad things?

Good emotions are just fine - happy, smiling, singing - easy. Anger - not good, shut-up & usually blow-up later. Try to save the blow-ups for home, doesn't always keep . Sad - cry baby, where ever I am, and my tendency to be overly sensitive doesn't help.

Sad - cry baby, where ever I am, and my tendency to be overly sensitive doesn't help. I'm pretty much the same way. When I'm happy, I'm glowing! Smiley, giggly, more confident. When I'm angry it can go two ways-- either I swallow my anger and blow up about it later (for me, NJ traffic is a GREAT way to do this, watch out assholes, GRRRR! ) or bottle it up but make snide, sarcastic dig at people until they ask me what's wrong. I can't really help it--I just have a hard time saying what's on my mind unless I'm comfortable. I'm not the type of person who stays rational when I'm pissed off! With my boyfriend or best friend (usually) I'll just say what's on my mind but I never let people see me get angry at work. Nervousness or anxiety, that's always there for me. I think I do a good job of hiding it, but get very flustered sometimes if it gets too much. I'll usually rant a bit and try to calm down. I've been much better with crying when I'm sad, I haven't really cried over something in a while. I think that my anti-anxiety meds have been helping, I don't get overwhelmed to the point of tears like I used to. Although sometimes if I feel really hurt (like the time the President of our company admonished me about something at work, very minor, but I took it way personally and it took so much not to cry!) I can be on the verge of tears.

I try to express them I guess. I have kept stuff inside but I don't like it. I don't like being numb. As I'm getting older I am finding that emotions are an important part of life. Or at least in feeling alive. The intellect is great and all but I want to be more than an elaborate calculator.
That said I try not to burden people with depressing stuff. Not that there are many people to burden lol. I tend to listen to sad music, generally wallow in misery for abit, get it out and then move on. I do believe in a 'whinge and purge' policy too. I'd rather bitch and get stuff out that end up bitter and twisted but I try to make sure it is not directed at real people etc.
Happy stuff. I do express it but I don't smile much. I keep my mouth shut because I don't have great teeth. So I can grin/smirk but not go for a belly laugh out loud etc. Don't want to scare the pretty people.

Depends on who I'm around. If I'm around people I don't know that well I usually just bottle my emotions up. If I'm around family or friends that I know real well I don't have a problem showing them. And when I'm alone I just let everything come out; when I'm alone is also the only time I show emotions like crying or sadness.

On the whole I just hide my emotions and bottle them up, it's usually safer than expressing them

Hey all,
It sounds like we do the same thing and hide our emotions from others.. When I am happy the world knows it but when I am sad or angry I have to blow it off some way.. I usually get on my bike and ride till all the anger is gone (usually about 20-30 miles) and then I am over my anger.. THis is what this board is all about to talk to each other and help each other out... NeverWhore I would like to talk to you.... Send me a PM, Please...

I guess I show my emotions depending on how much I trust the people around me. When I let my guard down I can be pretty emotional, ya know the full range. Otherwise, I'm pretty expressionless I remember once in school I was waiting for the bus and a kid came up and said to me "You have the expression of a door knob on your face." Well I didn't long once I sorta flipped out on him lol

I try to smile as much as I can regardless of how I'm feeling. People have told me that I never smile, so I'm trying to change that.
If someone asks me how I'm feeling and I can sense they have a genuine interest in my answer, I might open up a little.

I tend to keep emotions inside bottled up and have mastered the art of portraying a totally different emotion to the one I am feeling to the outside world. (If only I wasn’t shy – I could be a great actress.) However when I am alone in a familiar surrounding, if I am sad I will cry and if I am happy I will probably have a big cheesy grin ;D on my face. If I am angry then I tend to express my anger when I am around my family. Sometimes I feel sorry for them, as they have to deal with the brunt of all my anger even if it is not directed at them. I have never been much of a fan of public displays of emotion (PDE’s lol) but I wish I could let people see how I am really feeling sometimes.
