how is it not murder if the justification of an abortion is rape. its a life regardless of the way it was created. think of the type of child that could grow up to be. The child could have a great understanding of love and empathy because someone cared enough for it though it was not necessarily started in good circumstances. such would motivate this person to be the best he or she could be. I don't believe it's love for the unborn child that prompts a pregnant woman to keep it, it's her morals/religious beliefs. Some people believe life starts at conception, and that's a religious belief, not a proven fact. And do you think there's a good chance for love for a baby that's conceived during a rape? For the rest of her life that kid'll remind her of her rapist and the life she could have had. In that case, she DIDN'T have a choice to have sex so I don't want to hear the "well she chose to spread her legs those are the consequences" BS in the case of rape. I know I may get flayed alive for this, but what about the right of the woman in question? Why doe the unborn child automatically win out in the pro life argument? "Think of the type of child the kid could grow up to be". Well, good or bad. What if Mohammad Atta was aborted? What if Hitler was aborted? If the kid is never born, the argument is moot. I'm not saying I'm for abortion in general, but in the case of rape, it should definitely be a choice. And what about this...what if you knew your kid was going to be born with an incurable disease or severely retarted? And had no chance at all at a quality life? Wouldn't you want to alleviate that suffereing for all involved? What woud be the motivation to bring a child that's just going to be in a world of pain into this world? Some people think of themselves and their own beliefs more than that of the child.

yep exactly. most people are pretty sheltered about the reality. They should spend some time in a NICU or children's guardian home. These concerned folks maybe should adopt a few of these unwanted kids.
I also noticed that there isnt such an uproar over people wanting to deliberately harvest fetal cells in order to treat such diseases as parkinsons.

Some people think of themselves and their own beliefs more than that of the child. Personally I don’t think people should be allowed to find out those facts before the birth but since they are; The motivation to bring a child with an incurable disease into the world is the fact that in a few years time a cure could be found and the child could go on to live a happy life. How are you going to feel if you abort a child because it has a disease, which will ensure it is dead before it is 5 years old, and then 3 years later a cure is discovered that could have saved your child’s life? Also just because someone is severely retarted doesn’t mean they can’t have a good quality of life. Maybe the quality of the parent’s life will be compromised but I guess that would be a better example of someone thinking of themselves and their own beliefs more than that of the child’s. If there were no pain in the world there would be no happiness. Are you saying that all the people who have incurably diseases that are alive today would be better off dead? That their parents should have had tests done before birth to see how their child was going to turn out and then should have had an abortion?

Spend some time in a NICU or PICU.

If I could go back to when my Mum fell pregnant I would seriously recommend her to have an abortion. I like life, its kind of good and all but it would of been the best thing for her and my family as a whole.

If I leave the windows of my house open to enjoy the nice breeze it doesn't mean I'm cool with some person coming in eating all my food and craping in my toilet. I would do anything to get them out and if that means killing them I will.
A woman having sex doesn't mean she's OK with some little kid setting up shop in her uterus for the better part of a year.

I'm against abortion in all cases, in all senses of the word. To me, abortion does not just deprive a helpless, developing child's ability to grow, learn, and live in the world, but it also undermines our own humanity. If our lives can be stopped before they even begin by outside interference, then what's the poing of human dignity in the first place? I also feel that many of the abortion laws, in the US at least, were written and proppounded by corrupt and unthinking individuals, and other options for pregant girls should be presented and acted upon. Stopping and thinking before having sex goes a long way towards preventing a lot of sex- related problems.

To have a "right to life" requires that one be an individual capable of living an independent existence. One must "get a life" before one has a "right to life." A fetus is not a separate individual - it lives inside a pregnant woman and depends on her for its growth. In fact, the biological definition of "parasite" fits the fetal mode of growth precisely, especially since pregnancy causes a major upset to a woman's body, just like a parasite does to its host. I'm not trying to disparage fetuses with the negative connotations of the word parasite; in fact, parasites and their hosts often enjoy mutually supportive relationships, and this would include most pregnancies. However, the parasitic relationship of a fetus to a woman means that its continued existence requires her consent- if she continues the pregnancy unwillingly, her rights and bodily integrity are violated. Fetal dependence on a woman's body also refutes the common anti-choice assertion that fetuses are "innocent" and therefore deserving of protection. An unwanted fetus has no ill intent of course - like a parasite, it's just doing what it naturally has to do - but the physical risks of pregnancy and its total disruption to a woman's body and life means the fetus is not harmless, and therefore not innocent. This gives the woman the right to defend herself via an abortion.
